2011-2012

Teresa Wong President | COE ’12 Civil and Environmental Engineering Specialties: Taiji, Straightsword Wushu is one of my passions, followed closely by dance. I specialize in taiji, and my love for this sport has allowed me to travel the world and share my passion with others.
Marcus Chin Vice President | A&S ’14 Biological Sciences (Neuroscience) Specialties: Broadsword, Daggers, Fan, Flute, Staff, Straightsword Hello, I’m Marcus! Since I was young, I had a passion for martial arts. Bruce Lee and Jet Li were some of my role models.  I practice northern praying mantis kung-fu and greatly enjoy learning new weapon forms.
Peter Gu Treasurer | COE ’14 Applied Engineering Physics Specialties: Broadsword, Chain whip I’m a treasurer! I’ve been doing Wushu for a few years (blue belt now). I like broadsword but I’m also working on longfist forms.
Mike Blegen Member | ‘92 Specialties: Broadsword, Chain whip, Staff I’ve been training off and on (mainly off) since high school. Traditional Kung Fu was what I started with but then found Wushu, Tai Chi and Bagua. Most of my spare time is spent recovering from workouts on Mondays.
Christine Baver Member | COE’12 Environmental Engineering Specialties: Broadsword, Straightsword, Staff I wanted an excuse to spar with my little brother, so I joined kung fu with him in 8th grade. A few years later he wasn’t so little, and fortunately for me, sparring did not happen frequently! I trained with Nick Gracenin in Sharon, PA for 5 years. Focused on my studies during undergraduate and now, I’m a graduate student at Cornell studying environmental engineering and I am happy to have found my wushu family again. I focus primarily on compulsory changquan/long fist forms! I enjoy trail running, biking and attempting to tickle my big younger brother.
Alice Wei Member | HA’15 Hotel Administration Specialties: Hi! I’m a Hotelie in the School of Hotel Administration minoring in Real Estate. I never practiced Wushu before but I am a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Amy Wang Member | A&S’15 Biological Sciences Specialties: My name is Amy and I am from League City, TX. I love watching martial arts films and I’ve always wanted to learn martial arts, but for some reason I never really got around to it. I love Cornell Wushu and am looking forward having lots of fun in the next few years.
Sherry Liu Member | COE’15 Biological Engineering Specialties: Staff, Straightsword I hail from Gaithersburg, Maryland where I have trained at O-Mei Kungfu School since summer of fifth grade. However, my training has been on and off with several different instructors, so my knowledge of wushu has gaps. As a result, I’m open to anything anyone has to teach! In the past, I have studied long tassel straight sword, and staff and regular straight sword to some extent. Wushu is the perfect way to release some pent-up stress and energy. Jimmy Zhu Treasurer | COE ’14 Mechanical Engineering Specialties: Hey I’m the Cornell Wushu treasurer! I practice mainly contemporary styles and my favorite is southern fist.
Chiping Yeh Public Relations | COE ’12 Information Science Specialties: I grew up loving action movies – my favorite actor is Jackie Chan.

Evan Hayssen Member | COE’15 Mechanical Engineering Specialties: Staff I grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, where I started kung fu at Yang’s Martial Arts at age six. I earned my black belt when I was around ten. I’ve mostly trained in the Shaolin Long Fist style, with some basic training in Shaolin White Crane as well. Since arriving at Cornell I have started training in tae kwon do and compete with the Cornell tae kwon do team.
Lucy Kang Member | COE’12 Financial Engineering Specialties: I have great passion in Taichi. I’ve been learning Taichi for four years and I believe I will do it lifelong. Taichi not only makes me healthier but also impact my life with its philosophy. It’s fascinating!

Catherine Tong Member | ‘14 Specialties: Staff I’m Cat with a “C” for coffee, chocolate, and cats…oh, and California. I’ve only picked up wushu this year, but I’ve had a small background in Choy Lee Fut and Yau Kung Moon since I was a kid, from my Dad. I hope to learn the broadsword after the staff, and eventually the straight sword, spear or glaive after that. What I like most about wushu is the performance aspect of the sport.
